Why Suffer?

Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
“Life without purpose is empty, futile, and hopeless.”

What is the most painful part of Jesus’ suffering?
Christ forgave even as he was tortured and killed. That’s the ultimate example of love.

Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. 32He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. 33On the third day he will rise again.” Luke 18:31-33
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:4-6

Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding Ephesians 1:7-8
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins 1 John 4:10

By the cross we know the gravity of sin and the greatness of God’s love towards us.

Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. John 15:13-14

Be wise today and always – remember the price paid by Christ.
