In today's world when we think of promises we think of "broken promises". We immediately flash back to a hurt when someone let us down, lied to us, or abandoned us. We can be assured that God keeps His promises! A great hymn of the faith reminds us in, Standing on the Promises by R. Kelso Carter, 1849-1926

on the promises of Christ my King, through
eternal ages let his praises ring; glory
in the highest, I will shout and sing, standing
on the promises of God.
2. Standing
on the promises that cannot fail, when
the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, by
the living Word of God I shall prevail, standing
