Think About It

Have you ever thought about what God wants you to think about? Well He gives us a pretty good list in Paul's letter to the church (that's us).

Truth, goodness, righteousness, purity, love, and correct thinking in the Lord's eyes is excellent and praiseworthy!
May we allow Christ to guide our hearts and minds.
Meditate and pray about these "things" today. Allow them to become part of your thought patterns in all you do.

Working for God

God is the best boss to have.
Give Him your very best. He deserves nothing less.

Where can you improve in your "work ethic"?

Pray to improve your attitude and devotion to what Christ has called you to do in this life.

Straight Roads

I once offered a camp scholarship to anyone in my Youth group if they memorized this passage.
They all did.
It was the best money I ever spent. They were able to quote it and made it part of their lives.
Apply Proverbs 3:5-6 to your life journey and see where it takes you.
Memorize and live it today.

Find Life

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled. - Jesus (in Matthew 5:6)

Be filled but keep wanting - overflow on the world around you with the Living Water that Jesus provides.

Honor Christ with your actions. The world is watching and waiting. (So is God)

Reason for Hope

Hank use to sing on Monday nights, Are you ready for some football?
It got everyone excited and ready.

Do you get excited to share the truth of the Gospel?

Being prepared and then sharing the Good News is being obedient to God. Pray for those opportunities.
Are you ready? Just ask.

Lacking?

What do you need?
What does God want you to have?
Is it the same answer?

God will never judge you for asking a question. Remember Jesus said we will be blessed and filled when we hunger and thirst for the righteous things of God.

Pray for His mind and heart right now.

Not Overwhelmed

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” - Hebrews 13:5-6

Sometimes God calms the storm, and sometimes He calms His child. In both instances remember He is there for you. Trust in Him through the storms in life. Read Psalm 23, and apply it to your storm.

A psalm of David.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

My Rock

Today marks my 1,000th blog! Thank you to all who have read and encouraged me over the last three years. I started writing every day after complaining about not writing a "book". I was encouraged to "just write something" everyday. So, here we are many writings later.

We used to sing a song about our walk and talk in Christ being the same, but it is out of our hearts that thoughts and actions flow. I pray this blog has been pleasing in the Lord's sight. He is my Rock and Redeemer.

Spend time right now in prayer asking God what condition your heart is in, and what should you do to make it "right". Something righteous you start today could lead to great and wondrous things!

Do something everyday that brings you closer to Jesus. Amen?

Eternal Eyes and a Testimony

Have you ever heard the phrase, "What you see is what you get"? It's true but what we see is only temporary. What Jesus wants to offer us is eternal. One of the great things I've bee reminded of  from the Daniel Plan plan is God loves us the way we are (temporal) but loves us too much to leave us this way (eternal). A friend recently sent me his testimony about his changed life.

Dear Pastor Ty, Thank you for the Daniel Plan series you just completed. I greatly enjoyed it . The big reason I enjoyed it so much is that you are correct! I am a living testimony to the fact that it does work. Quite a few years ago I began to explore diets. It started out with limiting the amount of fat that I ate ( I do NOT count calories). First I cut out red meat and than milk. I added daily exercise and a better attitude and relationship with God. Truth is (and I can not say that this will be true for others) the last time I even had a cold or spent any time sick in bed was March of 1994, that's 20 full years. Thank God that you are now also sharing this valuable life changing plan with others.
If we all stick to it and make it a daily part of our life we WILL see the positive changes. After all we are created by God to give our utmost to his highest. I'm also willing to share to anyone the whole diet I have kept for all these years.
Thank you again for your wonderful incites and wisdom. Gus F

REJOICE!

Jesus Has Risen

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

Matthew 28 New International Version (NIV)

Help!

Four Reasons Why Jesus' Death on the Cross was Necessary
1. All was completed! – Jesus had completed the mission He came to earth for. Philippians 2:5-11- Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

2. Scripture was fulfilled! – From Jesus’ birth to the resurrection was prophesied. Matthew 26:52 - Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?” At that time Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me.  But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.”

3. It is finished! – tetelesti! (transaction/deal complete)- death has been defeated 1 Corinthians 15:55 - “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

4. Jesus gave up His Spirit in order that we can receive the Holy Spirit.
John 14:26 - But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

God Friday

Good Friday – What’s so good about it?

The day that Jesus, Son of God, dies for the world in the cruelest of ways, and we call it Good Friday. The Sunday School answer would be it is good for what Christ did for me!

Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled,Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”  A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. - John 19:28-30 All that was needed to be done for our redemption was accomplished by this great act of love.

Have you received His gift of salvation?

Love of Christ

Today is Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday It is the Thursday before Easter Sunday, observed by Christians in commemoration of Christ's Last Supper. The name Maundy is derived from mandatum (Latin for "mandate or commandment"). Jesus said not my will but God's will be done - it's doing God's plan His way.
In many churches, Communion is celebrated during the evening service to remind us of His obedience and sacrifice.  Christ gave his followers at the Last Supper a commandment that they love one another (John 13:34).
Are you showing the love of Christ?

A Winning Hand

This is week 6 of our study of the Daniel Plan. In our final video blog I will be teaching on, BECOMING WHO GOD MEANT YOU TO BE We'll be looking at using the Winning  Hand You’re Dealt. God's Word says:

“Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!” Psalm 139:14 (NLT)

“A person who fears God deals responsibly with all of reality, not just a piece of it.” Ecclesiastes 7:18 (MSG)

Please watch the following video on FIVE FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE MY IDENTITY:

It has been an honor to help and encourage you in a new restored lifestyle that honors God with all aspects of your life. Follow the bible on how He desires you to develop and grow in your faith. Allow His plan for your mental, emotional, and spiritual health to mature become a reality in your life. Jesus promises, I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 Change your life today. Strive for the faith, belief system, and healthy life God desires for you to have.

Choosing Good (God)

The Daniel Plan is about making godly choices with your life. The best choice you can make is to choose Jesus as my Savior.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

“When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!” 2 Cor. 5:17 (LB)

Say, It’s not too late to change!  When I choose, I use the provision God has given me, and I choose to get healthier. I choose to start risking healthy connections. I choose to trust God no matter what the circumstances are. I choose to change the way I think. I choose Jesus as my Savior. God will allow me to be mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually well.

Remember His promise in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the LORD, 'because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.‘ You can change your life today. Give control over to Jesus in your life. Strive for the faith, belief system, and healthy life God desires for you to have. That way you can love Him fully.

God is Not Far

Jesus faced a brutal last week on earth. We think we have hard weeks, but nothing was like His. I encourage you this week to read in the Gospel account of what happened to prepare your heart for Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday services. We all know things are bad today. The world around us is literally going to hell.We are watching the decay of civilization before us. Jesus is still weeping but many of us are not. Have we lost our tears? Tears speak so much louder than words. What about Faith? Compassion? Grace?

There is Good News! Jesus is still touched by our broken hearts and troubled by our blinded eyes.

The question, Is the Lord weeping with you or over you today? There is a huge difference between the two.

The last time weeping is mentioned in the Bible is Revelation 21:4, God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. This is our hope. David said it best, For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5 God is not far off and removed. He is very near – touched by our tears and weeps with us. He is troubled by our blinded eyes and weeps over us.

It’s okay to cry. Like Martha in John 11, “25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in
me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Wherever you are today in life know that God loves you and has a better plan for you. He wants to restore your heart, mind, body, and soul. The Lord promises, I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 You can change your life today. Strive for the faith, belief system, and healthy life God desires for you to have. That way you can love Him fully.

Is Jesus Crying for You?

A few days ago I wrote about Jesus weeping with us in our sorrows. Jesus also weeps over our sins, and He is troubled by our blinded eyes. Today is Palm Sunday. You can read the account of Jesus' Triumphal Entry in  Luke 19:28-40 when Jesus comes to Jerusalem as king.

Most of our sermons and lessons for this day have to do with the crowds, shouts of hosannas, the parade, the excitement, etc. But Jesus knew that all of it was a sham. In a few short days the crowds would turn on Him – cheers turn in to jeers – hosannas in to Crucify Him!

Can you picture Him that day? Prophecy was fulfilled. The Messiah riding on a donkey, over palm branches, and people's coats. He had the praise of the people and was the center of attention. How would you have felt? The closes thing I could imagine would be in a convertible in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade route. Jesus reacted different than we would. Luke 19:41-42 tells us, As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. This is referring to the desolation of Jerusalem and future refusal of Him because of their hard hearts, stiff necks, and blinded eyes.

You see the crowds wanted a military general type king. A week later they realized that wasn't what Jesus was about. So they crowned Him with thorns instead of a golden crown. His Kingdom was not of this world. Jesus wept for a blind sinful world. His weeping here is different than in Bethany (a gentle sobbing). The word here entails a loud sobbing, wailing, groaning, and cries that could be heard far away. Jesus was pouring out His heart over our spiritual neglect and sin. Note in Bethany He was joined in His weeping, but today He wept alone.

Sadly the church of Jesus Christ doesn't seem to be weeping over the sins of those around them or even our own sins. We are hardly troubled by blinded eyes. What are you blinded from? Do you need to be shedding tears over someone or something in your world? Jesus is weeping. Will you join Him?

Wherever you are today in life know that God loves you and has a better plan for you. He wants to restore your heart, mind, body, and soul. The Lord promises, I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 You can change your life today. Strive for the faith, belief system, and healthy life God desires for you to have. That way you can love Him fully.

Control Issues

A major part of the Daniel Plan is giving up control. Most would think it would be more about giving up food, time, exercise, etc. but it's not. There is a change that must happen in your mind to make a lasting difference. I pray that has happened to you already. Jesus knew that His life was about to change, but He kept His eyes on God. Control over His life was given over to the Father.

Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.  Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.  Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.  “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.  Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again. John 12:23-28

He was willing. Are you? Wherever you are today in life know that God loves you and has a better plan for you. He wants to restore your heart, mind, body, and soul. The Lord promises, I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 You can change your life today. Help Me Where I Am

Many ask how can I grow in my faith? Start by asking God – “Help me grow. Help me with my unbelief.” You start reading His Word. You get into the Bible.

There is a great story in the
Biblle about a man who came to Jesus, his child was sick. He had faith but it was weak.

The man brought the child to Jesus, Jesus said, “Do you believe I can heal her?” He said, “Lord, I do believe! Help me with my unbelief!” Jesus said, “that’s good enough!” And He heals the child.
Let’s say to God right now… Let me know your power - help my faith grow.

God’s promises are real, But I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 Believe and apply God’s awesome plan to your life starting right now. Change your life today. Strive for the faith, belief system, and healthy life God desires for you to have.

Never Give Up

Growing in the Lord will take patience, but remember "Faith is never giving up". God's Word tells us:

“Be brave. Be strong. Don’t give up. Expect God to get here soon.” Psalm 31:24 (MSG)
Life style changes will require a lot of strength. You are not alone. Jesus is with you.

“My life hangs in the balance, but I will not give up obedience to Your Word.”Psalm 119:109 (LB)
Stay focused on the truth.

“Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up.” Proverbs 24:16 (CEV)
Perseverance and the Lord's strength will get you through the tough times.

“Let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.” Gal. 6:9 (LB)
Keep your eyes on God's prize.

Be encouraged and obedient to the Bible's wisdom. Are you ready to give God 100% and let Him be in charge of the results?

Follow the bible on how He desires you to develop and grow in your faith. Allow His plan for your mental, emotional, and spiritual health to mature become a reality in your life. Jesus promises, I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 Change your life today. Crying with Jesus

I preached recently a Lenten message entitled, Is Jesus Still Crying? Lent is a time to focus on God, prayer, and sacrifice. It is also a time to take a look at suffering. You may wonder what suffering has to do with the Daniel Plan. Actually a lot. Our world is filled with suffering, and there is suffering in all of our lives. How we handle it plays out in our emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well being

Jesus suffered and He understands our tears. There are two passages in Scripture that reveal Him actually weeping. Both take place on the Mount of Olives. On the eastern slope in a little town called Bethany we find Jesus weeping over the grave of His friend Lazarus. John 11:35 Jesus wept. On the western slope we find Jesus on Palm Sunday weeping over humanity’s sins. Luke 19:41Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it. One can’t help but wonder if Jesus is still crying today. The tears of our Lord speaks volumes to us in the dispensation of His grace.

Jesus Weeps over our sorrows: He is touched by our broken hearts. We see the occasion of His weeping in John chapter 11. His friend Lazarus had died and his sisters Martha and Mary were very sad. You see tears touch God’s heart. When we hurt, are in pain, lose hope, brokenhearted, or lost – He weeps with us. Our great God is touched by our own hurts and brokenness. The psalmist says that God keeps our tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). If you need attention try tears. We serve a Lord who weeps with us in our sorrows and is touched by our broken hearts. Jesus weeps with us,but He also desires to heal us. Remember what happens to Lazarus?  When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”  The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.

Life Shapers

Most people allow tragedy and hardships shape who they are in life. It doesn't have to be that way. God has a much better way. In Jeremiah 29 we see a nation of people who are despondent and hopeless because of where they were in life and what had been done to them. But God!

10 This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to youand fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

Wherever you are today in life know that God loves you and has a better plan for you. He wants to restore your heart, mind, body, and soul. The Lord promises, I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 You can change your life today. His Love Endures Forever

We say in church, "God is good - all the time and All the time God is good!" Now I believe that statement is theologically correct and it shows the essence and the never ending presence of the Lord's love, grace, and mercy. Hopefully we can all say Amen to that. The problem is with Christ followers (who are sometimes not "good"). Traditionalism, prejudice, meanness, anger, pride-fullness, and sin rears it's head - even in the church.  It breaks my heart, and I am sure God is shaking His head as well.

Change comes slowly but it must come. This is true in our personal and public lives. There are those people and things that will try to stop changes in your life. Don't let them! Keep your focus vertical with all your heart, mind, body, and soul. Desire the best that God has for you. Psalm 136 shows where our attention should be.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords.
His faithful love endures forever. (vv.1-3)

He remembered us in our weakness.
His faithful love endures forever.
24 He saved us from our enemies.
His faithful love endures forever.
25 He gives food to every living thing.
His faithful love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His faithful love endures forever (vv.23-26)

Stay around "Pro-grow" not "No-grow" people. You need to be in a community that will breathe life in to you, not drain you. Follow God's Word on how He desires us to be connected in community. It is part of His plan for your mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Remember His promise, I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.Jeremiah 30:17 Change your life today. Strive for the relationships God desires for you to have.

Working

God create us to be in community with Him and others (read the first part of Genesis). In our journey to good health and restoration we all need to work with others. “God made us to do good works, which He planned in advance for us to live our lives doing.” Ephesians 2:10 (NCV) It is comforting to know that we don’t need to plan God’s work for Him – it’s already done. We just need to be obedient. We must be good listeners and apply His Word to our lives.

We are taught to be self sufficient and “to stand on our own two feet”, but God’s Word says, “Two people are better than one, because they get more done by working together.” Ecclesiastes. 4:9 (NCV) There is safety, production, encouragement, and accountability when working with someone else.

Living in a Godly community of believers is God’s answer for our need for healthy relationships.“Every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” Gal. 6:10 (MSG) Ask yourself today, What areas of my life could benefit by having someone else involved? Seek to find God’s choice for your co-workers, friends, and all relationships. His plan is always the best.

Follow God's Word on how He desires us to be connected in community. It is part of His plan for your mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Jesus promises, I will restore your health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 Change your life today. Strive for the relationships God desires for you to have.
