Blessed Assurance

Consider this passage from God's prophet: The Lord thunders at the head of his army; his forces are beyond number, and mighty is the army that obeys his command. The day of the Lord is great;  it is dreadful. Who can endure it? - Joel 2:11 This verse came after a very graphic description of the devastation and crisis caused by locusts. They devoured all vegetation and now there was nothing to harvest or fresh to eat. Not only is verse 11 a desrcription of the present it was a warning about the future. Everyone is (and will be) affected by this calamity.

The good thing to know here is that God always blesses His people even during a crisis. There are three things that we can hold on to during these times and they are all attributes of God.
1. Provision - God makes a way when we cannot see or know what to do.
2. Power - God has the strength to change any circumstance.
3. Promise - God promises deliverance and salvation to His people.

Not only was this modeled in Joel's time but was greatly illustrated by Jesus' death on the cross. He provides a way to get right with God through the forgiveness of sins. Jesus has power over death. He is our Savior and Deliverer for all eternity. Amen?
