It's been almost 15 years since Purpose Driven Life was published. It was a new way of looking at living out God's plan for our lives. I remember getting this fact sheet 13 years ago when I was getting ready to lead my church through the program. The information is still great.
What is Purpose Driven?
Purpose Driven is a church health model that provides congregations with a unique, biblically based approach to establishing, transforming, and maintaining a balanced, growing congregation that seeks to fulfill the God-given purposes of worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and missions.
What is Purpose Driven’s vision?
Purpose Driven's vision is to see a worldwide movement of healthy churches producing purpose driven lives. We want to see the Church:
- Healthy and balanced
- Creating life-changing communities around the world
- Fulfilling the biblical purposes
- Encouraging the salvation, growth, and development of one another
- Fully aware and fully mobilized to fulfill God’s intentional
design and mandate for a purpose driven church
- Encouraging other churches in their growth
The foundation of the Purpose Driven model is the Bible – with an intentional emphasis on the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). These two passages combine to create the essential elements of a healthy, growing, Biblically based church: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and missions.
Biblical Truths never change but how we go about learning and applying them to our lives do. Always be a learner! Amen?
