Yesterday we met a man named
Ittai who was new to David’s camp just when civil war was ready to break loose
between the King and his son Absalom. The them in his life would be, “Stay the
Course”.
21 But
Ittai replied to the king, “As surely as the Lord lives, and
as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means
life or death, there will your servant be.” 22 David said to
Ittai, “Go ahead, march on.” So Ittai the Gittite marched on with all his men
and the families that were with him. – 2 Samuel 15:21-22
He had unquestioning loyalty. Ittai’s response to David is remarkable. He
says, “As the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in whatever
place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also your
servant will be.” He was a man that would serve wherever his king went, whenever
his king needed him, and was will to pay whatever in serving David.
May we follower that same example
in our loyal service to Jesus. Remember Ittai wasn’t told to start he was
commended to, “March on!”. Amen?
