We can learn much about
honoring God from Joseph and Mary.
Because Joseph her
husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her
to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. - Matthew 1:19
When Joseph woke up, he
did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his
wife. - Matthew 1:24
“I am the Lord’s
servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel
left her.- Luke 1:38
And Mary said: “My soul
glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been
mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will
call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me - holy is his
name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty
deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost
thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their throne but has lifted up the
humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away
empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our
ancestors.”- Luke 1:46-55
What quality or faithfulness do you see in Joseph or Mary that
you can apply to the choices you have to make?
May we always use the hope, truth, and love
of Christ when we make choices. Amen?
