Discerning

When my children were young before they said something that would get them in trouble I’d say, “Think about it!” I didn’t know it at the time, but I was giving them biblical counsel.

Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.” Proverbs17:28

One quick view of the daily news proves this caution isn’t being applied very often. People talk and talk even though they don’t know what they’re saying. We should all think before we speak. A great benefit of being silent is we can listen better. One’s closed mouth allows their two ears to work better!

We all need to apply this wisdom to our lives. I think the world would be a better place, and a lot more peaceful. Amen?
