“The beginning of the good
news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the
prophet: “I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”— “a
voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make
straight paths for him.’” – Mark
1:1-3 (from Isaiah 43:1)
John
the Baptist was that messenger who proclaimed Christ was coming. He also got to
introduce him to the disciples and the world at Jesus’ baptism. Jesus calls on
all His followers to be like John. We live in a dark culture who needs the
Light and straight paths. We can be conduits to God by proclaiming Jesus and the path to Him for salvation.
This
year remember to offer more than a “Merry Christmas” to your family and
friends. Give them the gift of Jesus. Amen?
