I CAN TRUST THE BIBLE BECAUSE…

We learned this week in our 40 Days in the Word study reasons we can trust the Bible. Let’s look at two today

I CAN TRUST THE BIBLE BECAUSE…

1.       IT  IS HISTORICALLY ACCURATE, and not just doctrinally .. but every other area too!  Why? Because God CANNOT LIE! Hebrews 6:18 “It is impossible for God to lie!”We can follow the Bible because in Psalm 33:4“The Word of the Lord is right and true.” He tells us so.

2.       IT IS SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE! Psalm 148:5-6(NLT) tells us,  Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for he issued his command, and they came into being. He established them forever and forever. His orders will never be revoked.”

Science constantly changes! In 1861 the French Academy of Science published “51 Incontrovertible Scientific Facts that prove the Bible is Wrong” Today- all 51 facts have been proven wrong by SCIENCE!

Adrian Rogers said, “When a scientist agrees with the Bible, it doesn’t increase my trust in the Bible. It just raises my opinion of that scientist!

For 1000s of yrs everyone believed…
1. The earth was flat! Yet, 2,600 yrs ago  Isaiah said, “God is enthroned above the sphere of the earth”

2. The earth has to be held up! In Job 26:7(NLT) “God stretches the sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing!” How did Job know that? God told him.

3. The number of stars could be counted! 2,600 yrs ago Jeremiah wrote, “The number of stars are infinite”

There many, many more examples, but just remember:
Proverbs 30:5 “Every word of God is flawless
Ps. 12:6 “The words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay and purified seven times!”

Be wise today and always – trust the Word.

INSPIRATION

The first week of 40 Days in the Word deals with inspiration, and trusting the Bible.

Definition of inspiration: 1. stimulation or arousal of the mind, feelings, etc, to special or unusual activity or creativity 2. the state or quality of being so stimulated or aroused 3. someone or something that causes this state 4. an idea or action resulting from such a state 5. the act or process of inhaling; breathing in

The Bible is the most read book in the world.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Psalm 119:86 - “All of your commands can be trusted”

How do we know this? – The Bible is the inspired Word of God. It changes everyone who reads it. Centuries of believers lend testimony to It’s greatness and life changing truths.

Be wise today and always – Be inspired.

Accept

In today’s world we are skeptical about everything. But in today’s Scripture we are told to be quick to listen and humbly accept the Word of God. The Lord desires us to live a righteous life, and gives us instruction in how to achieve it.

“Everyone should be QUICK TO LISTEN, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly ACCEPT THE WORD planted in you, which can save you.”- James 1:19-21 (NIV)

During the study of 40 Days in the Word we’ll learn to love God’s Word with our hearts, to learn God’s Word with our minds, and to live God’s Word with our souls.

Be wise today and always – grow in God’s Word.

Changes Part Three

We continue our study this week in 40 Days In The Word.

How does God’s Word change me?

5.      IT ILLUMINATES MY MIND
Psalm 119:130(CEV) “Understanding your Word brings light to the minds of ordinary people.”
Psalm 119:99 (NIV)  “I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.
Psalm 119:105 “Your Word is a lamp to my feet  and a light for my path.”
Psalm119:18 “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law!”

6.      IT  ELEVATES MY MOOD
Whenever you get discouraged, you need a Word break.
Romans 15:4 “Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
Psalm119:114 (Message) ‘You're my place of quiet retreat; I wait for your Word to renew me.”

7.      IT  LIBERATES  MY POTENTIAL
Only God knows how to unlock your full potential
John 8:31-32 (NAS) "If you continue in My Word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free!”

Would you like to have your Life recreated?  Guilt eradicated? Faith activated? Growth stimulated? Mind illuminated?  Mood elevated? And Potential liberated?
It’s all in the WORD!

Be wise today and always – Be in the Word.

The Manual

Joshua 1:8 is the only verse in the Bible that promises success and prosperity.

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:8 (NIV)

If you put Joshua 1:8 in your own words would you focus on the promises or the instruction?

The Law, God’s Word, The Bible – No matter what you call it, remember it’s the Lord’s instruction manual to us. Love it, Learn it, and Live it!

Be wise today and always – use the manual!

Jesus Thing

I recently heard a sermon on a passage of Scripture that most of us have heard many times before. In Luke 10:25-37, Jesus told the story of The Good Samaritan when asked, Who is my neighbor? A man was left half-dead and a priest and a Levite passed by without helping. Only the Samaritan showed love for his fellow human being and cared for this poor man. It's a great lesson on being concerned for others and be willing to pay the cost that comes from living a life of service.

But something struck me about this story. How does it end? Does the man fully recover? Will he ever be able to thank the man who saved his life?

I think Jesus stopped the story where He did on purpose. You see, what we do should not be dependent on if it's all going to end well, and we are going to be thanked or rewarded somehow.

We care because He first cared for us. That's what being Jesus with skin on is all about. Not just doing the right thing, but doing the Jesus thing.

Be wise today and always. Be Jesus to someone.

Building Project

Rick Warren says that there are five ways to build your life on the Bible:

1.      Receive it with your ears.

The Bible tells us in Romans 10:17 “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ.”

2.      Read it with your eyes.

3.      Research it with your hands and mouth.
It’s not study unless you have a pen or pencil and you’re writing it down. Ask question and talk to other mature believers.

4.      Review and remember with your mind.

5.      Respond to it with your actions.
James 1:22 “Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says!”  Turn it into actions.

How’s the building process going in your life?

Be wise today and always – build your life on the Word of God.
