Turning Back

Today we will continue to look at the conversation between God and Jeremiah found in Jeremiah 8:18-22. In the proceeding two verses the prophet has told God of his heartache and to not forget Israel. In verse 20 God responds, “Is the Lord not in Zion? Is her King no longer there?” “Why have they aroused my anger with their images, with their worthless foreign idols?”

When you bring your requests before God be ready and listen to His response. The response to Jeremiah was basically, I never left - Israel left me for foreign gods. We can't blame God for our troubles if we have turned our backs on Him. People have turned their backs on God since the beginning of time. The outcome has always been bad. Look at what another prophet said to the people.

Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, "This is what God says: 'Why do you disobey the LORD's commands? You will not prosper. Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has forsaken you. -2 Chronicles 24:20 Turning back to where your help comes from is your only solution during troubled times. Confess your sins, God is faithful and just, and He will forgive and cleanse you. It's the way you get well.
