In Luke 11 the disciples ask
Jesus to teach them to pray. They saw this as the greatest gift they could
receive. This is what the Lord has taught us to pray in Matthew 6:9-13:
1. It’s for God’s glory.
(vv 9-10) – We worship and acknowledge who the Lord is in our lives. We
proclaim our faithfulness and obedience.
2. It’s for our good.
(vv 11-13) – The Lord provides for our needs. He pardons us from our sins, and
protects us from evil.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
