Let us look at the contrasts found in Matthew 12:38-42 in more detail.
1. They were looking for a Sign
Jesus gave them the example of Jonah 3 days in the belly of a fish vs. His death and being buried 3 days.
2. He said that the people of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment vs a wicked generation.
Matthew 12:39 Jesus answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign!
3. The Queen of Sheba who was searching for wisdom will testify against them and all who reject him.
We need to understand, acknowledge, and celebrate the fact that there is one here who is far greater than Solomon and He is here with us today! As impressed as the Queen was with this earthly king we are told that she will “will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it”.
Do you think that people are looking for a sign from God these days?
