When we have Godly relationships we know that
there are people who are watching out for us. We are sometimes resistant to
allowing others in to our lives. Barbra Streisand sang about this in a song
called People, People who need people, Are the luckiest people in the world, We’re
children needing children, And yet letting our grown up pride hide all the need
inside, Acting more like children than children. There is a a lot of truth in those words, but the Bible says, “Look out for one another's interests, not
just for your own.” Philippians 2:4 (TEV) And “Keep being concerned about each other as the Lord's followers should.”
Hebrews 13:1 (CEV) Sounds like we have a responsibility to one another.
There is also a huge upside to being in each other’s lives. We get to do life
together!
There is so much to be gained being a member
of a Christ-following community. “A person standing alone can be attacked and
defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are
even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes
4:12 (NLT) Safety, protection, wisdom, direction, love, companionship, and
Godly adventures all await us if we let go of self and do life His way.
Community is God’s answer to when we need
help. “If one person falls, another can reach out and help. But people who are
alone when they fall are in real trouble.” Eccl. 4:10 (NLT)
Follow God's Word on how He desires
us to be connected in community. It is part of His plan for your mental,
emotional, and spiritual health. Jesus promises, I will restore your health and heal your wounds,
declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17 Change
your life today. Strive for the relationships God desires for you to have.
