The Message
of Repentance is vital because:
1.
Jesus commands it.
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent,
Definition:
NOT – just saying you’re sorry (rich young ruler), regret (Pilate) a resolution
to be better, reformed, or some meaningless ritual.
It literally means: to
change one’s mind- will – actions (like the Prodigal son, “came to his senses”)

Jesus commends it.
“Repent,
for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
Benefits: shows God’s goodness and grace… Not Turn or Burn
theology/motivation but one of love and mercy.
3.
Jesus calls for it. Romans 2:4, “The
goodness of God leads you to repentance.”
Mandates: The Lord’s grace, love,
forgiveness, and goodness leads us to repentance! It takes repentance and faith
(belief) in Christ to be right with God.
God’s
goodness leads to our repentance. Amen?
