Have you ever encountered
someone who believed they had “all the answers”? How frustrating was it trying
to get them to understand they had something wrong? Jesus had the same
encounter with the so called “wise” of His world. He left that hostile
environment, and returned to the peaceful banks of the Jordan River.
Look at John 10:39-42 39 Again they tried to
seize him, but he escaped their grasp. 40 Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the
place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed, 41 and many people came to
him. They said, “Though John never performed a sign, all that John said
about this man was true.”42 And
in that place many believed in Jesus.
There He found many who
were considered uneducated and poor, but hungry for His truth. They accepted
His teaching, healing, and claim of Messiah. It was the same message, but there
was a vastly different response. People must respond to Jesus - some in
acceptance others in rejection. Knowing who Jesus’ identity is not the same as
“knowing” and accepting Him as your Savior.
What does it take to “discover” Jesus today? It’s all
about the truth and responding to God’s great love, mercy, and grace. Amen?
