Pity

Matthew 9:36 is an introduction of Jesus sending forth his apostles. (When he saw the crowds, he had compassion (pity) on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.)

He pities them, and was concerned for them. He was moved with compassion.
(1.) What moved this pity? They were lost and did not know way.
(2.) They were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. That expression is borrowed from 1 Kings. 22:17; and it sets forth the sad condition of those that are destitute of faithful guides to go before them in the things of God.

Be wise today and always – be moved to tell the truth about Jesus.
