In
response to Luke 11:1 “Lord teach us to pray” comes Matthew 6:9-13;
“This,
then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your
name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."
This is a
model and guide for our own prayer life. It is a prayer for:
God’s
Glory – “hallowed” “your kingdom come” “will”
Our Good
– Provision (11), Pardon (12), Protection (13)
The
foundation for all true prayer comes from the first two words: “Our Father”
without Him you cannot have an effective prayer life. You must be born again!
No wonder
His children are invited to come before Him with confidence – Hebrews
4:16, Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with
confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our
time of need.
In this
manner pray.. – Matthew 6:5... Amen?
