God's Day His Way

In Jeremiah 17 God is reminding them of part of their covenant with Him. Let's look back at when it was given, and see what was promised. They were called (as we are) to strictly observe and obey this word.
Read Exodus 20:8-11 and underline words or phrases that are important.  “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
How does this look today?

What is promised if they (we) return to doing it God’s way?
Matthew Henry says this about Jeremiah17:24-27, The streams of religion run deep or shallow, according as the banks of the Sabbath are kept up or neglected. The degree of strictness with which this ordinance is observed, or the neglect shown towards it, is a good test to find the state of spiritual religion in any land. Let all; by their own example, by attention to their families, strive to check this evil, that national prosperity may be preserved, and, above all, that souls may be saved.
God is serious about us remembering the Sabbath as a holy day set aside for Him.

What things can we do in our lives to keep from breaking this commandment and encourage others?
Be wise today and always - do it God's way on His day!
