In some ways we are all disabled: We are...
(Blind) Spirtually Blind – Matthew 23:16-19 16 "Woe to you, blind guides! You say, 'If
anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold
of the temple, he is bound by his oath.' 17You blind fools! Which is
greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? 18You
also say, 'If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone
swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.' 19You blind men!
Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
(Lame) Not walking the walk – 1 John 1:5-7 5 This is the message we have heard from him
and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6If
we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do
not live by the truth.
(Paralyzed) Afraid to
follow or move – 2 Chronicles 24:20 Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest.
He stood before the people and said, "This is what God says: 'Why do you
disobey the LORD's commands? You will not prosper. Because you have forsaken
the LORD, he has forsaken you.' "
So what’s the cure?
Open your eyes – Psalm 119:18 18
Open my eyes that I may see wonderful
things in your law. Psalm 121:1 1 I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come from? 2
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Be
obedient – Matthew
28:19-20 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the
age."
Trust/Have faith – Proverbs 3:5-6 5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and
lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways
acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
