The Anatomy of a Choice

The choices we have in life all have a beginning, middle, and end. It is the Here to There analogy all over again. God’s people started off well but spiraled in to sin and perversion leading to their punishment.

Jeremiah proclaims in his first message the history and subsequent downfall of Judah. Today we'll look at the first of three distinct times in their choice making - A Time of Devotion (Jeremiah 2:1-3)

God depicts His beginning relationship with His people like a marriage. Israel was a new bride wanting to please her husband. God’s happiness was their one desire. God shares His love here as well. He has watched over Israel for centuries since His covenant with Abraham.

1-3 God’s Message came to me. It went like this: “Get out in the streets and call to Jerusalem, God’s Message! I remember your youthful loyalty, our love as newlyweds. You stayed with me through the wilderness years, stuck with me through all the hard places. Israel was God’s holy choice, the pick of the crop. Anyone who laid a hand on her would soon wish he hadn’t!’” God’s Decree – The Message

Israel was the first nation to worship God. He promised to protect, provide, and allow them to prosper.

Be wise today and always - allow time every morning to worship God so that the rest of your day will flow out of it.
