Making Revival Real

Jesus calls us (His church) to be salt and light. We understand the “light vs. darkness” part, but what does it mean to be salt?

Matthew 5:13 - You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

Salt adds flavor.  It enhances, spices, improves the taste, and it permeates what it is put on.

Mark 9:50 - "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other."

Salt is a preservative.  Used with all kinds of meat, fish, etc. to keep it from spoiling.

Luke 14:34 - "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? 35It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.

Salt has worth.  Over the centuries it has been used for currency and trading.

This week let’s use the attributes of salt to guide us in how we should live for Christ.

Be wise today and always – Be salt to the world around you.
