As we study the God Questions, how a good God could allow evil remember the day is coming when
suffering will cease and evil will be judged.
Revelation 21:4; 4 ‘He
will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning
or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Revelation 20:1-4; And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the
Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He
seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound
him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the
Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the
nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set
free for a short time.4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been
given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded
because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had
not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their
foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand
years.
Any suffering we experience
in this life pales in comparison with the good God has in store for His
followers. Paul wrote:
I have worked much harder, been in prison
more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again
and again. 24 Five times I received from the Jews the
forty lashes minus one. 25 Three
times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was
shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26 I have been constantly on the move. I
have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my
fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the
country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. 27 I have labored and toiled and have
often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone
without food; I have been cold and naked.
At the
same time he wrote:
2 Corinthians 4:17;
For our light
and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs
them all.
Romans
8:18, 18 I consider that our present sufferings are
not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
Be wise today and always - choose what is right and honoring to God.
